Today we continue with our discussion on chronic pain and multiple unexplained symptoms. We delve into how to talk with patients about this complex clinical presentation and the role of central sensitization. Individuals who have experienced trauma in their life often function in a survival mindset. Their ability to process information may be hindered by their daily heightened state of alarm. We need to foster a safe environment using language that tells them, “you’re safe with me”.
